Flying W Airport Resort
-
Medford, NJ
One of a kind resort includes an airplane shaped pool. Great for a day trip or extended stay. Flying W Airport & Resort was built in the 1960s by Bill Whitesell; hence the "W" in its name. Mr. Whitesell initially envisioned a place to provide air transportation services to those involved in building the Alaska Pipe Line. Stay in the quaint Flying W Motel, and swim in the famous airplane-shaped swimming pool. Over the years, the restaurant, lounge and swimming pool have provided enjoyment and wonderful memories to many who still visit. -

Millville Army Air Field Museum - Millville Municipal Airport
-
Millville, NJ
Millville Municipal Airport, originally dubbed America's First Defense Airport, was dedicated in 1941 under the original name Millville Army Air Field and served as a gunnery school for fighter pilots during WWII. It become home to First Air Force. Training began with the P-40F Warhawk, but quickly transitioned to what Millville is most known for: The P-47 Thunderbolt. During the fields' three years existence, thousands of soldiers and civilians served here, with 1,500 pilots receiving advanced training in the P-47 Thunderbolt. Millville has a lot to offer, beginning right at the field: Verna's Flightline Diner to feed your tummy after a long flight, two FBO's, and of course the Millville Army Air Field Museum.
